She is the kind of person also that she would risk her life to help her friends, she holds friends dear. Because she doesn't have any family to speak of, her friends are everything to her, and she will always hang on to her precious husband, even if he is dead.
History: Ashelia or Ashe B'nargin Dalmasca is a 19-year-old Hume princess fighting to liberate her kingdom, Dalmasca, from the Archadian Empire. The only child of King Raminas and the sole heir to the throne, she married Rasler Heios Nabradia shortly before Archadia's invasion of Dalmasca. Her husband died in the battle to protect Nalbina Fortress (on the border of fellow Nabradia, Rasler's home state), making Ashe a young widow. Though their people believed that their marriage was political, they actually loved each other and his death is hard on her - she still wears her wedding ring two years after his death. She was thought to have committed suicide, but took on the alias, Amalia, to serve as the leader of the Resistance before joining the group. Her intention on getting revenge on Archadia, for the horrors its militant forces had committed on her people, was manipulated by the Occuria to reinforce their rule over Ivalice.
Along the course of the story, the Occuria created an image of the late Rasler to lead Ashe wherever they needed her to go. In their encounter, the Occuria offered her Nethicite to rule as another Dynast-King, and conquer Ivalice at their stead. At the final moment, however, Ashe rejects the Occuria's offer and declined to use the Nethicite. Ashe acknowledges Larsa's intention to stop the war between the two empires, and finally makes her way to Vayne in the Sky Fortress Bahamut to end it. Ashe continues her role as Queen of Dalmasca.
Other: Still Holds Her Wedding Ring Dear
:It Begins:
She shook her head and, with a laugh, bid them farewell. Their little argument dragged on until they had left the palace grounds. At that time, it became a faint and distant mumble. With a bit of a sigh, she headed back to her chambers, busying herself by admiring the many elegant tapestries strewn along the palace walls. Each footstep echoed loudly through down the long, empty hallway. Apparently, the many consuls and servants usually occupying the entirety of the palace were busied. Upon reaching her bed chambers, the steel clad figure guarding her door gave her a strange look and she told him to please tell anyone whom would attempt to visit her in the next fifteen minutes to leave her be. She then walked out onto the balcony overlooking not only the city, but the wreck of the sky fortress Bahamut, and gave it a nostalgic glance before pulling open the flap on the small brown pouch and emptying the contents into her hand.
Her ring, as expected.
The burning hot platinum in her hand felt foreign - as though she had never been ridiculously attached to it. She’d survived a year and a half without it… She felt no security holding it now and that utterly surprised her. Then again, she’d learned to move on since Balthier had taken it away from her. Getting it back was… less satisfying than she would’ve imagined. The second object was a tag tied to the pouch, which she immediately removed. He had written a message in his surprisingly fluent script. Something more valuable: the cache of Galbados. I await in Bervinia. And on the other side: Give this to the queen for me, would you?
She smiled, tucking the card back into the pouch and looked toward the horizon. It seemed that the future may well be brighter than she ever could have imagined.
“Balthier, I would advise that you stop while you’re ahead.” The viera partner to Balthier scolded, sighing heavily as he finished off his current glass of strong alcohol. “We venture out early tomorrow. You will be of no use if you’re suffering the after effects of your drinking.”
“A strong tolerance to alcohol is only one of my many talents,” Balthier said self assuredly and hoped the viera would leave it at that. He threw down enough Gil for a another, “Another, would you?”
The younger barkeep gave him a sarcastic grin and begrudgingly refilled his glass sighing when he took down most of the liquid in two gulps. It burned his throat painfully. He winced and twisted on his barstool, back to Fran, who was watching him with an eyebrow raised.
“Something troubles you.” She noted, arms folded, lengthy fingernails tapping lightly against her tawny skin. “I have seen you like this before.”
“I am fine, Fran.” He blatantly lied, focusing on the bronze colored liquid filling the bottom of his glass. “If it is a return to the Strahl that you wish, I am not stopping you. By all means, go. I will return in due time.”
“I do not wish to return to our ship, Balthier, I wish for a better understanding.” Fran stood, rising to her full height, “You have been strange since we turned the ring and reclaimed our ship. Tell me, is it the Princess?”
Yes, it was the princess. Not only her, but his cowardice in facing her. He realized what he must have caused her in his prolonged absence. The last words she had spoken to him hurt him every time they wormed their way into his mind. He couldn’t face her. So, instead, he returned that which was most important to her, lied about having found something more valuable, left a location incase she did wish to see him again, and had flown off like a ridiculous coward. After hand, he had decided to fly to the pub nearest to Rabanastre, yet it was not in Rabanastre, get drunk off his ass, and forget about Ashelia B’nargin Dalmasca entirely.
